Cloves– Cloves contains manganese, an essential mineral for maintaining brain function and building strong bones. Cloves have been shown to improve gum health. It can also increase of gastric mucous which also reduces the risk of ulcers.
Chives– Chives contain both choline and folate, compounds that are both associated with improved memory and the lack thereof is associated with an increased likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Chives contain Lutein and zeaxanthin which support eye health and fight against age related eye conditions.
Rosemary– Rosemary oil treats androgenetic alopecia, a hair loss disease. It does so by preventing a byproduct of testosterone from attacking your hair follicles.
Thyme– thyme essential oil was found in a 2010 study to treat acne by having an antibacterial effect against the bacteria thought to cause acne.
Oregano– Oregano is high in carvacrol and thymol, two antioxidants that can help suppress the ability of free radicals to damage cells. Oregano also has antiviral effects against the herpes simplex virus and seems to suppress the growth of cancer cells in test tube studies.
Marjoram– Marjoram is known to have anti-microbial properties. It is thus commonly taken as a supplement to help treat overgrowth of gut bacteria. Marjoram helps to support hormonal balance in women and is traditionally used against food borne illnesses.
