Keep it Safe (preservatives)

For convenient storage and use, preservatives were selected based on long term use and safety. Some of which can also be found in natural food sources.

  1. Calcium Propionate – Calcium propionate is a naturally occurring organic salt that had been deemed by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be “generally recognized as safe”.
  2. Sodium Erythrobate – Typically used as a food additive in soft drinks, Sodium erythorbate is closely related to vitamin C and used an anti-oxidant that prevents spoilage or growth of unsafe micro-organisms during the storage of food. It is a salt of a stereoisomer of vitamin C. The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that Sodium erythorbate “is generally recognized as safe.”
  3. Potassium Sorbate -Potassium sorbate is a food additive that is widely used in a variety of foods and drinks like baked goods, ice cream, wine and yogurt. Potassium sorbate is especially good at suppressing fungal growth. The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that Potassium sorbate is “is generally recognized as safe.”
